"The wall is all that's left of the house. A shell hit the garage. When I was leaving, there was another wall. When I returned, there was nothing left. My child and I were hiding at the neighbors' house, spent the night there, and saw our house burning, how it was bombed. The next day, I told my daughter that our house was destroyed. She said: "How? My books and dolls are there; I'll help you rebuild it," recalls Vyacheslav Pysarenko, the owner of the destroyed house.

According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, 2,000 out of 2,800 houses in Moshchun were destroyed as a result of Russian military aggression.

According to the results of searches and investigators, 1,150 bodies of dead civilians were found after the settlement was liberated.
Moshchun is one of the places where the fiercest battles between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian occupying forces took place. The soldiers of the 72nd Separate Brigade, named after the Black Cossacks, were defending the village — 80 soldiers against 500 Russian militants. They held back the advance of the enemy and stop the Russian army's advance to the Ukrainian capital.
